Angle bisector

This tool is an alternative to the Ruler. Like the Plane through 3 points tool, 'Angle bisector' requires the user to select 3 points in the Crease Pattern. It will then determine the plane that is perpendicular to the triangle spanned by the three points and bisects the angle at the second point.

If the selected points are on the same line, an error message will appear.

'Angle bisector' can be enabled by clicking the button.

The Snap option works with this tool as well, but it will not display the small black squares seen on the 3D View.

Exercise

  1. Start with a new piece of paper by going to File > New > Square origami.
  2. With Snap enabled, you can easily bisect the angle at the top right corner:
However, you would have a hard time bisecting that angle once again with just the Ruler.
  3. Instead, click the button, and click the bottom left corner, then the top left corner, finally the bottom right corner:
  4. Right click on the 3D View, and select Reflect.
  5. The 45° angle at the top right corner has been properly bisected.
